We had a booth at an Earth Day fair this weekend in La Mesa, CA, and it was delightful.
We showed up with a pile of what most people would call “trash-adjacent” to create animal portraits. Old boxes, egg cartons, old clothing catalogs, and glue made from packing peanuts.
The kids were like, absolutely yes, let’s do this.
Suddenly we had lion, and tigers, and bears (and frogs, and pigs, and foxes). Kids were locked in and focused. It's old cardboard, and it is fabulous.
It's important that are Earth friendly and we’re reusing materials. However, it's more than that. It supports two more of our core values:
Innovation: Kids are figuring things out. They’re turning everyday items into something they’re proud of. They’re making decisions. Changing their minds. Trying again.
Art is everywhere and art is for everyone: you don't need expensive materials or complicated equipment. Everyday materials work just great.
We’re opening in La Mesa / San Diego this August, and if you came by the booth, you already get it.
If you’re looking for:

That’s what we’re building.
More creativity.
More confidence.
More cardboard animals.

And if you missed it… don’t worry.
We’re just getting started. 🎨
